Gifts from the sea
My love for the beach has always been a thing. My family and I have been going to Holden Beach, NC every summer since I was 6 months old. In the last few years, my husband has gotten really into LBSF. (If you don’t know what that is, look it up.) He has spent an insane amount of time trying to get me into the sport as well. I went on my first shark fishing trip with him in October 2024. This trip just so happened to coincide with a supermoon which was responsible for a king tide the weekend we were there. I have never seen so many shells, and with such variety, on one beach in my entire life. My love for the beach grew 3 times that day. In two days, I collected more lettered olives, augers, baby’s ear, lucines, turkey wings, disk dosinias, calico scallops (I had never seen these on an NC beach before this weekend), arks, shark teeth, wampum, jingle shells, shark’s eye, slipper shells, and other small hermit/snail shells than I have in my entire collection. I had no idea what I was going to do with them all. And this is where my friends come in. I put together a collage of calico scallops since these are my favorite shell. And when I sent the picture to our college friends, they suggested a variety collage. And here we now.
Every order includes a laminated brochure with cool facts about your shells. If the items in a piece are all from the same place, that information will be included with your order, as well as any noteworthy moon and tide events.
All of my finds are ethically sourced; no living animal is ever removed from its home. I only take what I need, in addition to picking up any plastics or trash I find along the way. Ocean conservation is a mission that I give back to - 10% of net proceeds are donated to a reputable organization. If you'd like more information on the current organization donations are going to, please send us a message.
I only offer refunds in the event of damage during transport. Please reach out to me if you're unhappy with your order for any reason. I will do everything I can to rectify the situation.
When I'm at the beach, I typically spend 4-6 hours a day beachcombing. This usually amounts to about 3-5 miles of walking depending on how much time I spend in each shell bed. My shells are washed, soaked, washed again, and when necessary, dipped in a diluted acid bath. I never add oil to my shells. Every piece has been meticulously planned, laid out, readjusted, and then, usually, readjusted again for the perfect fit. These pieces are a labor of love in every way - I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
